Our Mission in Model Engineering
The aim of Warrington & District Model Engineering Society is to encourage and develop the skills & art of engineering through the construction of model, small scale, prototypical machines.
The Society encourages the development of engineering knowledge in an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendliness whilst promoting the appreciation of engineering, and its history to both our membership and local public where possible.
Our main interests are centred on our comprehensive railway system at Betty’s Wood, Daresbury, Warrington where we have a raised level 5” and 3 ½” track for our members to run their locomotives.
Members Days and Afternoons
We meet every Wednesday late morning (10am)/early afternoon from 2pm and also Sundays at our Daresbury site and facility in Warrington. Members are encouraged to support the club and attend regular at Daresbury where possible with the upkeep of our facilities.
Other members interests include building and running traction engines, stationary steam engines, model aircraft engines, clocks, organs, in fact anything engineering orientated but in miniature.
We Are A Friendly Society
Although this might give you the impression that we are only interested in trains and locomotives, this is not the case, but the tracks are our only visible possession. We are also into stationary engines, traction engines, clocks, microscopes, 3-wheeled cars amongst other things.
Come along and join us if you are interested in any form of model engineering, we’re a pretty friendly bunch, and mostly harmless…. If you are interested in becoming a member, please look at the Membership tab above.
